Amazing place - food was delicious, service was great and rooms are spacious (for the classic bedroom) and small but comfortable (for the small double bedroom). The only negative point was that we all got 45min massage instead of 60min which is quite disappointing given the hotel standards and the price of the massage

Had a lovely birthday present from my hubby to go for a great spa afternoon followed by a treatment. The spa area including the pool, hot tub, steam room and sauna was really well kept and I had a lovely time, relaxing. The massage I had after was the greatest, the best I had, thank you to Kaitlyn for the perfect and relaxing massage. Well recommended.

Had a great spa morning followed by a treatment. The spa area including the pool, hot tub, steam room and sauna was really well kept and we had a lovely time alternating between the various facilities. The massage after was especially good and a highlight of the trip.

My oldest friend and I booked in for a 3 day 4 night break. Our stay was wonderful. Best body massage I have ever had from Cristina. Food amazing. We are both vegetarian and the menu options were extensive. Scones and tea in one of the lovely rooms a highlight. What Ethan does not know about Hartwell House is not worth knowing. He is knowledgeable and very charming. Jessica who was in charge of our restaurant experience and the bar when we were there could not have done more for us. All the staff so helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. An amazing experience

I've enjoyed two stays in 2025 here and I have to say it's one of the most magical getaways. I would highly recommend it. The staff are wonderful, attentive and staying in a National Trust property is magical. The food is also extremely tasty. If you want to feel looked after and special then I'd recommend a trip here in 2026.

This is a review for the restaurant: We had lunch on a Saturday in Mid-February It has been a few years since last attending from a prior awful experience, and being close to home, thought we should give it another go I’m pleased to say that things have improved, although not to the extent that I am keen to rush back The food was good, though not outstanding. The service is probably what tourists are looking for in a property like this, formal and traditional. I found it starchy and cold in the context of knowing how great service from sincere personality can turn dining out into a great experience, I was left disappointed My biggest gripe remains the prices, especially for drinks. In relation to quality of the experience everything is massively overpriced and greatly detracts from my number one criteria of VALUE of the experience Glad it’s improved but unless something is done about pricing a return visit is unlikely any time soon

Fabulous hotel that manages to really keep the ancient feel throughout. The rooms are little museums. Service was good. My wife enjoyed the spa but the gym area needs major improvement …/ and regular cleaning too.

We came here for a 1 night break this week and we had a lovely relaxing time. We had a lovely welcome and the offer to take our bags to the room. There's several lounge rooms to sit and read or just to chill out. Dinner was delicious with lots of choice on the menu. Service was spot on and the food was amazing. Our room was clean and full of character with lots of lovely touches. The bed was very comfy and had a really good night's sleep. The breakfast was amongst the best I've had. Really good quality ingredients and perfectly cooked. The grounds are nice for a stroll, it's more of a parkland garden and great for wildlife. The spa is a lovely relaxing place with a great pool to chill or do some lengths. I had a massage with was so therapeutic, although a little overpriced.
